A sustainable urban and land development for a riverine and maritime country like Bangladesh depends on strategic distribution in urbanism. Eight other towns apart from Dhaka can be developed as metropolitan hubs. A comprehensive urban development also depends on maintaining the navigability of rivers, maintenance of water reservoirs, management of alluvium, production of renewable energy and sensible land usage methods. Coastal areas may be developed with a network of towns along with power stations based on solar energy, winds, tides and ocean currents.
